Bali Bombers Told To File Appeal Or Face Firing Squad

JAKARTA--(AP, November 7, 2006)--Indonesia's top prosecutor
Tuesday warned three men on death row for the 2002 Bali
nightclub bombings to file an appeal of their Supreme Court
conviction by early next month or face the firing squad.

The Aug. 22 execution was delayed after they said they would
seek a judicial review of their cases.

But Attorney General Abdul Rahman Saleh said prosecutors,
who have the power to fix a date for their deaths, won't
wait beyond early December.

"They have been buying a lot of time and the prosecutors
won't wait forever," Saleh told reporters in the capital,
Jakarta.

Under Indonesian law there is no fixed time for the filing
of the final appeal, the last stage of the legal process.
That "means we can execute them at any time," Saleh said.

The three - Amrozi Nurhasyim, Ali Gufron and Imam Samudra -
were among more than 30 people convicted in the Oct. 12 twin
nightclub bombings on the resort island, that killed 202
people, mostly foreign tourists.
