Indocement's CDM reaches final stage

Publicly listed cement producer PT Indocement said that the implementation of
its Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) project had reached the final stage.

Sources at Indocement said that the CDM project started in 2005 had now
reached the final stage, "whereby validation of the CDM project has been completed."

Part of Indocement's CDM project is the use of alternative fuels such as rice
husks, palm kernel shells and sawdust as a substitute for fossil fuels in the
burning process.

CO2 emissions resulting from the combustion of fossil fuels in the cement
kilns has reportedly to contributed to global CO2 emissions and has become a
global issue due to the likely influence on climate change.

"This has prompted Indocement to implement the CDM project," the source said.

Unilever rebuilds health centers in Yogyakarta

Publicly listed PT Unilever Indonesia is currently rebuilding several damaged
community health centers (Puskesmas) in earthquake-hit Yogyakarta to provide
local people access to health services.

The company said that people living in areas hit by the devastating
earthquake had difficulty in accessing health services because numerous public health
facilities were damaged by the earthquake. "Therefore, we have decided to
rebuild at least five Puskesmas to allow Yogyakarta people, especially those living
in hard-hit Bantul and surrounding areas, to have access to health services,"
said Okti Damayanti, general manager of the Unilever Care Foundation.

The community health centers now under reconstruction include the centers in
Bambanglipuro, Pandank I and Gunung Kidul. Aside from the health centers,
Unilever will also rebuild a community center in Yogyakarta.

Okti said that the reconstruction of the facilities was part of the social
commitment of the firm under the company's corporate social responsibility (CSR)
program.

"Our assistance in the form of reconstructing Puskesmas reflects our deep
concern (for the victims of the natural disaster). This is parallel with our
corporate social mission," she said.

The reconstruction of the health centers will take six months to complete.

Mandiri gives grant to Udayana University

Publicly listed state owned Bank Mandiri is providing about Rp 1 billion in a
grant to develop information communication technology at the state University
of Udayana in Bali.

The grant was signed by Mandiri's director Budi G Sadikin and Udayana Rector
I Made Bakta at the university's Jimbaran campus Saturday, the bank said in a
statement.

The grant will be used by the university to develop an Intranet/Internet
network that will link its three campuses as well as to build an electronic
library.

The university now has three campuses in three different locations, that

is the Bukit Jimbaran campus, Sudirman campus and Nias campus. The absence of
Intranet/Internet connection between the three have been an obstacle for the
university in integrating its academic and non-academic programs.

The development of the information and communication technology (ICT) network
is expected to solve the problem as the three will be connected online. The
ICT facility will be accessible to all members of the university, including
lecturers, students and workers.

"The grant from Bank Mandiri totals Rp 997.625 million. The amount includes
Rp 697.775 million to develop the ICT and Rp 296.85 million for the development
of the e-library," Budi said.
