Fuel shortage hit Kupang
UPANG, East Nusa Tenggara: A fuel shortage in Timor Tengah Utara regency has
forced two gas stations to lock up their pumps for the past three days.
The manager of Fatuteka gas station, Vincen Taneka, blamed the shortage on
supply cuts to the area by state oil and gas company PT Pertamina since Monday.
He said the cut in gasoline supplies, accompanied by an increase in the
number of cars lining up to fill their tanks, had left stations and vendors without
any fuel.
Shortages have pushed the price of premium gas sold by traders up to Rp 7,500
(83 US cents) per liter from Rp 5,000.
Pertamina's marketing head in Kupang, Viktor Lumbangaul, denied any
shortages, saying there was a sufficient fuel stock in East Nusa Tenggara.
